- This is the latest in my popular 'Poppy'series.
Each canvas measures 16in x20in so the finished work is a very big 32in x 40in not including gaps.
This art has been created using over 30 layers of acrylic paint, a base coat of thick acrylic and then layer over layer of thinner coats, each adding a new dimension to the finished piece.I used a special texturiser in places to make some of the surface crinkled like a real poppy.
I have added very thin layers and blown them with the hair dryer to mingle and merge the colours together,when you are working 4 canvas together it is very time consuming, but very interesting at the same time!
Next I add the melted wax to the centre of the poppy--using a special heated tool.This is then polished with some soft tissue to make it shine.I added some soft golden sheen to parts of the poppy with some very fine golden powder made to use with melted wax,but in this case used onto the acrylic paint with lovely results.
This work has to be seen in the flesh-photographs do it no justice at all.
